Worcester County Commissioners Urge Neighbors to Prepare for Tropical Storm Conditions

Posted: Updated:

SNOW HILL, Md. - With the impact of Hurricane Dorian now hours away from reaching Delmarva, Worcester County Commissioners are urging its resident to prepare for tropical storm conditions.

Worcester County Emergency services are tracking the storm, which is supposed to have an effect on Delmarva overnight. The National Weather Service recently issued a tropical storm warning for the area. Predictions include prolonged periods of rain up to two inches, mild to moderate flooding, and winds of up to 45 mph inland and 55 mph along the coast.

The commissioners urge residents to take cautionary measures, like:

  • Secure boats and outdoor objects
  • Gather flashlights, batteries, and a portable radio in the event of a power outage
  • Keep water and canned/packaged foods on hand that do not require cooking or refrigeration
  • Avoid traveling on or crossing flooded roadways

County officials also urge people living in mobile homes and low-lying areas prone to flooding to brace for any impact the storm might have.
