LEWES, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested an Ellendale man Saturday on domestic assault charges following a brief police chase.

Troopers say they responded to the Red Mill Inn on Coastal Highway for a physical domestic at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Officers say when they arrived, a woman said she was physically assaulted by 36-year-old Timothy Rossi Jr. of Ellendale.

After the altercation, Rossi reportedly left the scene in a silver Chevrolet Suburban, according to troopers.

Troopers say a chase began after Milton police officer saw Rossi's vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop while Rossi drove off.

Police say the chase continued through Georgetown and Ellendale, as Rossi drove directly at responding officer’s vehicles on multiple occasions.

According to troopers, they were able to stop Rossi's vehicle with speed sticks and arrested him on Maple Branch Road in Ellendale.

Responding officers say after a brief struggle, during which one trooper sustained minor injuries, Rossi was arrested.

During the arrest, police say they found marijuana on Rossi's person and inside his vehicle.

Troopers say after further investigation, a box containing 31 rounds of Federal 380 ammunition, in which Rossi is his prohibited to possess, was found inside a second vehicle owned by Rossi.

Rossi faces multiple criminal and domestic assault related charges, according to police. He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $205,605 cash bail.
