National Folk Festival Wraps up a Successful Second Year in Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The National Folk Festival ended this weekend with great weather and an even greater crowd.

A record-breaking 153,911 people attended, according to estimates.

City workers and volunteers have been busy cleaning the streets and breaking down equipment, while local businesses are celebrating the festivals success.

Knowing the economic benefits the festival brings, one local ice-cream shop manager made sure her shop was open in time.

“Our expectations were met. We were busy, out the door, the entire folk festival. From the time it started to the time it ended.” says manager Nicole Rogers.

Some businesses are closed today so owners and workers can catch up on work and calculate revenue.

“It’s hard to really gauge this early on. I still have to go through and look but I know I never had a weekend as busy as this.” says bar owner Alexander Scott.

As of Monday afternoon all streets were re-opened. The last of the cleanup is expected to be finished by Tuesday morning.
