CAMDEN, Del.- The Delaware Farm Bureau's Mobile Agriculture Lab is now booking school visits for the 2019-2020 school year.

This year, Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation Coordinator Kali Voshell hopes the lab visits every elementary school in Delaware.

"My personal goal is to hit all the schools in the state. I've sent out letters to all the public elementary schools, we've also had some requests for private schools and really, any requests we get we try to fulfill," said Voshell.

Students will learn about careers in agriculture, touch different types of soil in Delaware and find out how food grows. Students will be sent home with a seed they can grow all on their own.

The executive director of the bureau, Joseph Poppiti, explained that the program is meant to show students where their food really comes from.

"Some students think their food comes from a chain store rather than a farm," said Poppiti. "So that's one of our missions, to change that thinking and really start from the farmer."

The lab is fully funded by grants and donations. Up to 18 students can fit inside for 30 minute presentations.

Visit https://defb.org/ to book the lab or you can visit them Oct. 9 on Healthy Kids Day at Killens Pond State Park.
