Troopers Say Rehoboth Beach Man Assaulted Woman, Found Under Mobile Home

Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested a 41-year-old Delaware man in connection to an assault that occurred early Monday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the 37000 block of Burton Village Avenue in Burton Village for the report of an assault. When troopers arrived, they connected with a 30-year-old woman who explained to police that as she was walking back to her home from the dumpster area ex-boyfriend Tyshi Hazzard approached and attacked her.

Police say the woman said she was struck by Hazzard several times and strangled. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Hazzard is currently on a ban list for the Burton Village Community. Police say he left the scene before police arrived.

Hazzard was found a short time later hiding under a nearby mobile home. Hazzard was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with second-degree assault, strangulation, resisting arrest, and third-degree criminal trespass.

Hazzard is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $51,001 cash only bond.
