Posted: Updated:

MILLSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a woman who died Monday morning in a Millsboro car crash.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Demizha Sondrell Romance Sturgis, of Wyoming, Del.

The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. when a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Indian Town Road, east of Hudson Road. Troopers said Sturgis rounded a left curve at an apparent high rate of speed and on the wrong side of road. Police said that after nearly striking another vehicle head-on, Sturgis lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway into the dense woods, where the front end struck a pine tree.

Troopers said a Good Samaritan who was passing by pulled Sturgis from the car before it went up in flames. The Good Samaritan, a local resident, also performed CPR prior to the arrival of EMS personnel.

Police said Sturgis, who was not properly restrained, was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford where she was pronounced deceased.

Indian Town Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
