SALISBURY, Md.- Staff at HALO Ministries in Salisbury say the homeless outreach organization is facing a critical need for food and supplies as the fall season kicks off.

Executive Director Celeste Savage said the HALO Center of Hope shelters and cafe have already seen an increase in visitors over the last few weeks.

"Our men's shelter is full. We've already put out an additional 10 beds," said Savage. She said the shelter sees an increase in visistors as the summer heat turns to the fall chill.

"We would run about somewhere in the neighborhood of about 75 to 80 at night for dinner, and now we're looking at serving, depending in the night and if the checks come through, we're serving anywhere between 100, 110, 109," Savage said.

As a result, Savage said some supplies have been running low.

The ministry is looking for items like pasta sauce, milk, butter, twin bed sheets, pillow cases, and cleaning supplies.

"For a lot of folks we serve, it's the only meal they get, so they look forward to a hot meal on a cold day," said volunteer Don Ratchford.

The HALO Center of Hope shelters are open 365 days a year, seven days a week.

If you would like to donate to HALO Ministries, you can drop off items at the HALO Center of Hope at 119 South Blvd. in Salisbury.
