Rehoboth Parking Committee to Survey Businesses

Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- The Rehoboth Beach Parking Advisory Committee will speak with local businesses before making formal parking recommendations for the next summer season.

The survey plans were announced at Thursday morning's committee meeting after a number of businesses expressed concern over the three hour limit in parts of downtown.

"It's hard to juggle but it's great that we have people that are interested in coming out and voicing their opinions so that we can make a great judgment," says committee member Trey Kraus. "The hardest part is making a judgment without information and we are at least accumulating the information."

More thirty minute spots or adjusting the three hours to four hours were two ideas brought up during the meeting, but nothing formal was decided.

Gidget's Gadgets store owner Steve Fallon says he feels the committee is listening to the businesses. He says a new app or more signage could help alleviate concerns.

"There's lots of parking, unfortunately the signage isn't up yet," Fallon tells WRDE. "But they are working on that and hopefully next year will bring a better downtown."

The committee meets again on October 15th before making its advisory recommendations. The Rehoboth Beach Commissioners ultimately will decide on any parking changes.
