SMYRNA, Del.- Smyrna police have arrested two people from New York accused of using fraudulently obtained credit card/bank information to purchase pre-paid gift cards.

Police said that on the evening of Monday, Sept. 30, officers responded to the Rose’s  on East Glenwood Avenue for a report of someone acting suspiciously inside the store.

Officers contacted Raheema Wallace, 19, of Queens, N.Y. as she was leaving the store. Police said that during a field interview, it was determined that Wallace was in possession of marijuana.  Officers also contacted Paul Ogunwomoju, 21, of Queens, N.Y., who was waiting for Wallace in a running vehicle. Police said Ogunwomoju was also found to have marijuana in his possession.

Police said further investigation and the execution of search warrants led detectives to discover that both suspects were in possession of more than 40 stolen credit/bank card numbers uploaded into multiple cellphones.  The two suspects were using an app on their phones to purchase pre-paid gift cards with stolen bank/credit information from unknowing victims, according to police.

Both Wallace and Ogunwomoju were charged with second-degree forgery, second-degree conspiracy and possession of marijuana.  Both suspects were released on $2,000 unsecured bond pending a future court hearing.

Police are asking customers and businesses to call them if they observe similar behavior, especially regarding large quantity purchases of pre-paid gift cards.
