SELBYVILLE, Del.- After 16 years, Selbyville Public Library is retiring its Haunted Library event.

Library Director Kelly Kline, made the hard decision after the event got big...scary big. Last year's event housed more than 50 volunteers and 560 guests.

"Anytime that's happening you have to consider the safety of everyone involved. The people walking through, the people volunteering, the staff, everyone," Kline says.

With such a large event held in such a small space, Kline knew it could get dangerous, especially with the props and lighting effects.

"You're changing the path of the building, blocking things, turning all the lights off and you've got these structures built while scaring people and everyone reacts different to getting scared," Kline said.

The library staff is still in the Halloween spirit. They will be sitting on the library porch Halloween night, passing out free books and candy.
