Trio Caliente Brings Latin Rhythms to Delmarva

Posted: Updated:

MILTON, Del.-  Students and teachers took a break from the classroom to enjoy some upbeat Latin music.

Nearly 800 Students, teachers, and staff from H.O. Brittingham Elementary School and Milton Elementary School got to hear a taste of the vibrant Latin music from Trio Caliente.

Trio Caliente blends flamenco, pop, bachata, merengue, and reggaeton to create their own unique take on Latin music.

School Principal Ned Gladfelter said the concert's initiative is to expose students to other cultures.

"WE'RE JUST TRYING TO GIVE THEM OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE CULTURAL EVENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND BRINGING THEM INTO THE BUILDING IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS," explains Gladfelter.

The event was organized by Coastal Concerts, through a grant from Longwood Foundation. Steven Van Order, who works with the organization says the goal is to bring more diverse music to the communities

"We are working closely with local schools and communities to bring different types of music," said Van Order.

Trio Caliente will perform once more this Friday night for a concert open to the public. The free concert will take place at Georgetown Middle School tonight at 7:30 pm.
