Police: Dover Man Arrested for Chasing People With Knives in Royal Farms

DOVER, Del.- Authorities say a Dover man believed to have been under the influence of synthetic marijuana armed himself with knives and chased people around a Royal Farms store.

Dover police said it happened Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royal Farms located at 293 Saulsbury Road. According to police, at around 7 p.m., 41-year-old Steve Lawrence walked inside the Royal Farms with two folding knives and began chasing employees and customers around the business. 

Police said Lawrence tried to run away from officers but taken into custody following a brief foot chase. Lawrence is believed to have been under the influence of synthetic marijuana at the time of the incident, according to investigators. 

Nobody was injured as a result of the incident, police said. 

Lawrence was ordered held on a $44,360 secured bond on the following charges:

  • Two counts of possession of Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited 
  • Two counts of possession of deadly weapon during commission of felony
  • Two counts of aggravated menacing 
  • Resisting arrest
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Public intoxication
