GEORGETOWN, Del.- A man is behind bars following accusations that he robbed a customer in the parking lot of a Royal Farms store in Georgetown.

On Sunday, Georgetown police responded to the Royal Farms for a robbery complaint. The victim told officers he was walking out of the store when he was approached by a man who asked him for money.

According to police, the victim continued walking and when he arrived at his vehicle, he said the suspect forcibly removed the victim’s wallet from the victim’s pocket.

The victim said he tried to hold onto his wallet but was overpowered by the suspect who then ran from the scene.

With the help of video surveillance, the suspect was identified as Louis Bland, 50, of Georgetown, who was found Monday sleeping in the breezeway of a commercial building.  Bland was taken into custody without incident.

Bland was charged with second-degree robbery and trespassing. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $3,000 bond.
