HALLWOOD Va.- An Accomack County woman has been indicted on more than 60 felony embezzlement charges, stemming from her time working as the town clerk of Hallwood.

In October 2017, Angela Taylor was ordered to surrender all of the town's documents for an audit. But then her car mysteriously caught fire with all of the records inside.

After the fire, Taylor wrote an apology letter to Mayor Jackie Poulson with her resignation as town clerk.  A new town clerk was then hired for Hallwood.

Court documents show that Taylor had been allegedly stealing town funds from 2011 to 2017. She had 65 transactions totaling nearly $24,000 using duplicate checks and even depositing town money for her electric bill, according to court documents.

Taylor is currently out on bond. No trial date has yet been set.
