Hebron Hit-and-Run Leads to Arrest

Posted: Updated:

HEBRON, Md.- Police found a license plate at the scene of a hit-and-run on N. Main Street in Hebron, that led them to make an arrest.

Around 8 p.m. Monday Maryland State Police and deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a hit-and-run, as well damages to a home.

Troopers said a license plate from the suspect vehicle was found laying in the victim's yard. Police say this led them to the owner's house a short distance away from where the accident happened.

Troopers say they were able to locate the suspect, 43-year-old Larry Dale Merritt, at a nearby home, as well as recognize an odor of alcohol coming from him.

Troopers also said they performed a field sobriety test, in which Merritt performed poorly on, and was arrested and charged with a DUI, as well as charges related to the hit-and-run.

No injuries were reported as a result from the crash.
