Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.- A deadly crash in Dover on Wednesday is being investigated by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Police say the accident happened around 6 a.m. when a 2006 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Brenford Road, approaching Mt. Friendship Road.

Troopers say that for unknown reasons, the driver failed to negotiate a slight curve on the road and went off the west side of Brenford Road. When the car went off the road, it struck a tree.

Delaware State Police say the driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Clayton, was restrained and pronounced dead at the scene. His name, at this time, is being held pending the notification of his next of kin.

The road in which the accident happened on was closed for about three-and-a-half hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared, according to police.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by police.
