LAUREL, Del.- Laurel police are investigating a late-reported shots fired complaint at an apartment complex.

Officers learned that a single shot was fired from an upstairs apartment in the 1000 building at Hollybrook Apartments on Saturday. The bullet went through the floor and into the apartment below, which was on the first story.

Officers were not able to make contact with the tenants of the apartment where the shots were reportedly fired, so the management of the apartment complex entered the apartment to make sure no one was hurt inside, police said.

While inside the apartment, officers found 22-year-old Taj Trammell, of Laurel, hiding in a bedroom closet. When asked to identify himself, Trammell reportedly provided false information to officers about his name and date of birth. He was ultimately detained, according to police.

Through their investigation, officers said learned that Trammell got into a fight  with his girlfriend inside the apartment.

Police said that during the fight, the girlfriend attempted to hide in the bathroom of the apartment, and Trammell reportedly fired a single shot at her. However, the bullet missed her, and traveled through the floor and into the ceiling of the bathroom in the apartment below, police said.

During a search of the apartment, officers found a loaded Glock .22 hidden inside, according to police.

Trammell was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, tampering with physical evidence, felony providing false statement to law enforcement, third-degree assault, terroristic threatening and criminal mischief.

Additionally, Trammell was wanted out of Sussex Superior Court for Failure to Appear on a second-degree rape charge from 2016, Sussex Superior Court for violation of probation and Sussex Family Court for child support arrears, police said.

He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $46,500 cash only bond for his new charges and $27,600 for his pending charges and capias out of the respective courts.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact Cpl. Bauer of the Laurel Police Department at 302-875-2244. Information can also be provided to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

When the Maple Elementary School Marching Band began, they were the only elementary school marching band in the state. And now they are continuing to receive national attention. Earlier this week, Sydney got a chance to catch to see how the students are preparing for their performance and learn about the achievements they've accomplished so far.
