BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a man killed when the car he was driving collided with a fuel truck in Bridgeville on Sunday morning.

Police identified the driver as 49-year-old Isaisas B. Perez, of Bridgeville.

Troopers said that shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway and approaching the intersection of Redden Road.

Meantime, a 6-wheel fuel truck carrying diesel fuel was traveling westbound on Redden Road crossing over both the northbound and southbound lanes of Sussex Highway, according to police.

Police said the Corolla and truck entered the intersection simultaneously, resulting in a collision.

Police said that after the impact, the fuel truck overturned, landed upside down and spilled a substantial amount of diesel fuel.

Perez, who was driving the Corolla, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to troopers.

Troopers said the driver of the fuel truck, a a 64-year-old Milton man, was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sussex Highway southbound in the area of Redden Road was closed completely for four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

DNREC was called to the scene to assist with cleanup of the fuel spill.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
