Dover Woman Arrested for DUI, Disorderly Conduct After Drive-Thru Incident

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.- Authorities say a heated exchange in a fast food drive-thru ended in a long list of charges for a Dover woman.

Dover police say that at around 3 a.m. Saturday officers were called to the McDonald's on Forrest Avenue for a disorderly customer in the drive-thru. The restaurant notified police that Dana Courtenay, 35, was cursing at employees about a food order and appeared intoxicated.

When officers arrived, they saw Courtenay in the drive-thru line.  She then reportedly left the parking lot and officers tried to pull her over.

Officers reported that Courtenay failed to stop, drove into a nearby shopping center, and then back into the McDonald's drive-thru. Police said officers then contacted Courtenay, who got out her vehicle and began screaming and cursing at them.

Police said that when the officers tried to take Courtenay into custody, she began fighting with them and spit on two officers.  According to police, Courtenay refused all sobriety tests but had clear signs of alcohol intoxication.

Officers obtained a search warrant for a blood drawl at Kent General Hospital to determine her BAC.

Courtenay was charged with multiple offenses including DUI, reckless driving, resisting arrest with force, disorderly conduct, disregard police officer signal, two counts of offensive touching of law enforcement, second-degree assault of law enforcement and intentionally threaten the life/serious injury of public official/servant.

She was released on a $9,700 unsecured bond.
