FELTON, Del.– Delaware State Police say a Felton woman is behind bars for assault on a law enforcement officer and related charges after she attacked a trooper investigating her for another assault.

Police said that at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, troopers responded to a home in the 600 block of Plymouth Road for a reported assault. When they arrived on the scene, they met with a 43-year-old woman who told them that Erica Davis, entered the home and confronted her. According to police, Davis, who was angry for unknown reasons, grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to stab the victim. Troopers said a witness at the home was able to disarm Davis but she proceeded to assault the victim, causing minor injury.  Davis then left the home and damaged the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the area, according to police.

Police said as troopers were on scene conducting the investigation into the assault, Davis returned to the home and began to approach the victim in an aggressive manner. Police said Davis refused to obey the troopers and while being taken into custody, resisted arrest and injured a trooper. Police said that once in custody, Davis threatened to spit on a trooper and proceeded to kick him as she was placed in the police car.  No medical attention was required for the victim or troopers involved, according to police.

Davis was transported to Troop 3 where she was processed and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated menacing
  • Resisting arrest with force
  • Second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer
  • Third-degree assault
  • Offensive touching
  • Criminal mischief

Davis was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $19,300 cash bond.
