NEAVITT, Md. - Get ready to shuck Delmarva - oyster season is now in full swing in Maryland. And plenty of Eastern Shore watermen say the season's off to a great start.

For Talbot County waterman Guy Spurry, it's the best he's seen in 15 years.

"It's putting money in everybody's pocket," Spurry said. "Not just the watermen but the seafood bars and everybody else."

And farther south in Somerset County, Ronald Hall grabbed them by the handful. Hall says it's a stark difference from a dismal season last year.

"This season is enormous. I've never seen anything like it in my life," Hall said. "This time come another year, it's going to be better than this. They've got to be. Look at how they've come back in just a year's time!"

But harvests this year have been cut short. Earlier this year, Maryland DNR announcing Wednesdays would be off limits for oysters, citing a need to create a sustainable fishery for oysters. For watermen, it's a shame of wasted time and money for oysters that are aplenty in the 2019 season.
