SALISBURY, Md.- MilB.com on Tuesday named the Delmarva Shorebirds as its Team of the Year for 2019, a first in the history of the Minor League Baseball franchise.
The Shorebirds ended their 24th season at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium with a franchise-record 90 wins and finished with the Minor League's highest full-season winning percentage of .652.
In recognizing the Shorebirds as its Team of the Year, MiLB.com wrote, "No, the Shorebirds did not capture a championship, but they consistently won games and held down the opposition en route to earning the top spot on this list."
MiLB.com noted that it was an "all-around team effort, but what fueled the Shorebirds all year long was an elite pitching staff that led the circuit in a host of categories, including ERA (3.00) and shutouts (20)."
