WITTMAN, Md.- Authorities have ruled as accidental a fire that heavily damaged a home in Talbot County over the weekend.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the two-alarm blaze occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the two story dwelling, located at 8622 Sewell Point Road in Wittman .
It took 49 firefighters from the St. Michaels and assisting volunteer fire companies approximately 90 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire caused an estimated $130,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators determined a mechanical failure in the home's mechanical room sparked the fire.
