REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delaware State Police say a wanted man and his girlfriend are facing drug dealing and related charges after more than 160 bags of heroin were seized from them during a raid conducted Tuesday at a motel in Rehoboth Beach.

Police said that at around 8 a.m. Tuesday, troopers and members of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Task Force responded to the Econo Lodge, located at 19540 Coastal Highway, to execute a warrant in reference to 28-year-old Durron E. Jones Jr., of Dagsboro, who was wanted out of DSP Troop 4 for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and other traffic-related charges stemming from an incident on Nov. 10 in which he fled from troopers.

Police said that in addition to Durron’s outstanding warrants, information was obtained that he was potentially involved in the distribution of illegal drugs and was preparing to flee the state. Troopers observed Jones and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Chelsea L. Cooper of Millsboro, leaving the Econo Lodge with their belongings. Police said that as officers approached Jones, he attempted to run away but subsequently apprehended a short time later. Cooper was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the following items were located and seized during the incident:

Jones was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,251 cash bond.
