OCEAN CITY, Md-

A film fest with a twist. The annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival hosted by Assateague Coastal Trust (ACT) kicks off Thursday night.

The first showing is at Morley Hall at Seacrets in Ocean City. The various films celebrate the environment, but also bring awareness to the the issues harming it.

The group mainly focuses on the environmental issues in our backyard, like Assateague Island.

"We want to celebrate that fact that we are so fortunate in this area to have such a treasure just south of us...we have carried over 1 thousand pounds of plastic off of that island just in the last year," said Assateague Coastkeeper, Kathy Phillips.

The festival comes with drinks, food, raffles, and more! Organizers steered away from the tradition theater setting so audience members can socialize while enjoying the films.

"Film, the arts, music, any time that's thrown in the picture it really encourages people and motivates them to make positive change. Whether that's in their own family or out in the community," said ACT communications director, Billy Weiland.

Thursday's event at Morley hall is from 7-9. Doors open at 6.

The festival continues Nov. 16 at Island Theater in Chincoteague, Nov. 19 at Cinema Art Theater in Lewes, and ends on Nov. 24 at Cinema Art Theater in Lewes.
