Water Shutoff Scheduled for Overnight Wednesday in Crisfield

CRISFIELD, Md.- In order to complete repairs to a major city water main line on Richardson Avenue in Crisfield, officials say it will be necessary to once again turn off all water service in the city's water service area for several hours.

City Manager Rick Pollitt said plans call for the water to be turned off at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, and to be restored before dawn on Thursday morning.

Water will need to be boiled for human consumption once the water is back on but should only be necessary for a day or so, according to Pollitt.

Early last week Crisfield experienced a water main line break at the intersection of Richardson and Chesapeake avenues, which caused the city to temporarily shut off water while initial repairs were made. A boil water advisory was issued after the repairs and was lifted toward the end of last week.

"Mayor Barry Dize and the Crisfield City Council appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to deal with an aging water system and to protect the public health," Pollitt said in a notice to Crisfield residents.

Anyone with questions should contact City Hall at 410-968-1333.
