Troopers Investigate Alleged Salisbury Rape

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md.- Maryland State Police are investigating after a 17-year-old girl said she was raped Sunday morning.

Troopers responded to the Salisbury home in the 1000 Block of Mineola Avenue around 1 a.m., after the 17-year-old said she was raped at the home by a boy she knew, according to police.

Officers say the victim was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where she was evaluated. The suspect, who police say is a minor and was believed to have been injured in some one, also went to PRMC for treatment.

Police said the findings at the scene and the fact that the suspect sought medical treatment led troopers to consider a possible stabbing had occurred between both parties, in the same home as the alleged rape.

Investigating detectives interviewed both the girl and the suspect and determined no stabbing or any other type of assault with a knife or any weapon occurred.

Police said the investigation into the alleged rape is ongoing and no charges are have been filed yet. Police said further investigation
is required and before any charges being filed, guidance from the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office will be sought for consideration.
