MILFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating a traffic accident that left one man dead Friday evening.

Delaware State Police say 52-year-old George A. Burton of Milford, was hit around 6 p.m. Friday while trying to cross DuPont Boulevard (US 113) just south of Airport Road in Milford.

Police say Burton was initially struck by an 80-year-old man driving a Chrysler and was then hit by two other vehicles.

Troopers said the man driving the Chrysler stopped and remained on the scene while the other two drivers did not.

According to officers, Burton, who was not wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light, did not use a crosswalk and walked right into the path of the Chrysler.

Burton was transported to Bayhealth Milford before being transferred to Christiana Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police. Officers have not yet determined if Burton was impaired at the time of the incident.

DuPont Boulevard was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Delaware State Police say the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call Sgt. J. Wheatley.
