PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- A new partnership is working to transform communities in Somerset County.

"Keep Somerset Beautiful" has been certified as an official affiliate of the "Keep America Beautiful" network, joining more than 600 state and community-based affiliates across the country.

Keep America Beautiful is a national non-profit focused on improving communities through clean and green spaces.

The partnership will provide Somerset County with resources like funding to help with education and beautification projects.

"Not just picking up litter, but also beautifying areas. Planting plants. Planting trees. Planting native species. All of those things can also be a part of this effort," said Main Street Princess Anne Manager Carrie Samis.

Keep Somerset Beautiful will partner with various community organizations to complete those projects.

The group is planning to ramp up public outreach to recruit volunteers.
