Milford Man Arrested on Drug, Firearms Charges Following Traffic Stop

DOVER, Del.- The Dover Police Department arrested a Milford man on drug and firearms charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of marijuana and a loaded handgun on Sunday evening.

Troopers stopped Drekwon Scott, 21, in the area of River Road and East Water Street for an equipment violation. 

During the stop, officers reportedly detected a strong odor or marijuana coming from the vehicle. 

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine under the driver's seat, an additional magazine in the glove compartment of the car, and an additional 35 rounds of 9mm ammunition on the floor behind the driver's seat, according to police.

Scott was committed to SCI on a $3,000 secured bond on the following charges:

-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of marijuana
-Drug paraphernalia
