WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.- As temperatures continue to drop, the Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services is offering safety tips for winter.

Officials said subfreezing temperatures and wind chills can be dangerous and even life-threatening for people who do not take the proper precautions.

It is important to monitor local weather reports, and you should stay indoors as much as possible to limit your exposure to the cold.

Dress in layers and keep dry.

Bring all pets indoors or into a warming area.

Of course, you also want to check on family, friends, and neighbors who may need additional assistance.

Also, make sure you have an emergency kit in your car that includes an ice scraper, a blanket, and a flashlight.
