Updated: Police ID Man Killed in Harrington Shooting

HARRINGTON, Del.- Authorities have released the name of a man who died after being shot Wednesday night in Harrington.

Delaware State Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Robert J. White, of Harrington.

Police said that at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, troopers responded to the unit block of Diamond Court to assist the Harrington Police Department for a report of a shooting.

The investigation revealed White had just walked out of his home when he was shot by an unknown suspect who was nearby the dwelling. 

White sustained a single gunshot wound and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

At the request of the Harrington Police Department, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

There is no suspect information at this time. The shooting remains under investigation.

    A boys basketball game between Cape Henlopen and Sussex Tech high schools devolved into a three-on-three contest after a bench-clearing brawl, and only three of those players were left on the court at the buzzer.

    Thursday night's game ended with only one player on the court for Cape Henlopen and two for Sussex Tech. Sussex Tech won the game 63-62.
