Georgetown Man Arrested for Robbery Outside Business

GEORGETOWN, Del.- A Georgetown man is behind bars following accusations that he attacked and robbed another man outside a business on Tuesday night. 

According to Georgetown police, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Bedford Street for a reported robbery.

The victim told police he was standing outside of a business when he was contacted by two males.

According to police, the victim stated that one of the males approached him from behind, wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck and began hitting the victim on the back until the victim fell to the ground.

Another person on scene then reportedly stopped the assault and the suspect fled from the scene.

After the incident, the victim reported cash had been removed from his wallet.

Officers identified the suspect as Anthony Masariegos, 29, of Georgetown. Masariegos was found shortly later in a Royal Farms parking lot and taken into custody without incident

Masariegos was arrested for second-degree robbery and ordered held in the  Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $6,000 cash bond.
