MILFORD, Del.- A Milford man is facing multiple charges following accusations that he attacked two people with a baseball bat before smashing a vehicle with it.

Robert L. Lewis, 39, is charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Mischief.

Lewis' arrest stemmed from a reported assault that happened Tuesday night, Dec. 17, on the 200 block of North Street.

Milford police said that Lewis got into a confrontation with two people, then left the area only to later return with a baseball bat.

According to police, Lewis then began to swing the bat at the two victims, striking one of them. Officers said Lewis then reportedly struck a nearby vehicle multiple times with the bat, causing considerable damage.

As a result of this investigation a warrant was obtained and Lewis was arrested on the aforementioned charges. Lewis was ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $22,500 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on Jan. 3 for a preliminary hearing.
