Suspect in Shooting Death of Delaware Man Turns Self in

Mcarthur M. Risper Jr.

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police say one of two men who shot another man to death in Bridgeville back in 2018 has been sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison.

The Delaware Department of Justice said Friday that the sentencing of 30-year-old McArthur Risper, of Bridgeville, stemmed from an incident that occurred on May 11, 2018. According to prosecutors, 41-year-old Corey Bailey, also of Bridgeville, was approached by two men who shot him multiple times before fleeing. Police responding to the scene found Bailey's body on the side of the road with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses and an anonymous tip identified one of the shooters as Risper. The second shooter’s identity is the subject of an ongoing investigation.

At the time of his death, Bailey was wanted for failing to re-register as a sex offender. He pleaded guilty in 2008 to fourth-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Risper was found guilty of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy.
