For the past 30 years, the Cancer Registry Program at the Peninsula Cancer Center has provided a rich source of primary information on all types of cancer. It is the registry's job to collect, manage, analyze and report cancer data for all patients diagnosed and/or receiving initial treatment at the Peninsula Cancer Center and Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The information retained by the computerized cancer registry adds measurement to the prevalence of cancer in our area over the last 30 years. In addition, the registry provides data to the National Cancer Database for incidence measurement and studies. The registry's reference date of 1976 is giving us a large database and a great opportunity to analyze and perform comparison studies to better enhance the programs and services here at the Peninsula Cancer Center.
