The Department of Radiology at Peninsula Regional Medical Center is the largest and oldest imaging department on the Eastern Shore and offers full service, comprehensive and state-of-the art imaging totaling over 165,000 examinations per year.
Currently, the department is home to two High Field MRI units, two Multi-slice CT scanners and one Helical Scanner, two All-Digital Angiographic Suites, two Digital Fluoroscopic Rooms, four Ultrasound Units, four Nuclear Medicine Cameras and four General Radiographic Units.
In 2007, the department also installed the region's only 64 slice LightSpeed CT for high definition, digital imaging that can provide full body scans in 10 seconds. Also installed was a new all digital Radiographic Fluoroscopic Room equipped with technology that can safely support and scan patients up to 600 pounds.
Of course, equipment can take us only so far. The specially trained and dedicated staff members are what makes the equipment produce the necessary results. We are very proud of the high quality of our medical staff of 14 board-certified radiologists, as well as professional, technical and clerical staff.
