Harrington Traffic Stop Leads to Drugs, Weapons Bust

HARRINGTON, Del.- Delaware State Police say a traffic stop led police to raid a home in Harrington where three people were arrested on drugs and weapons charges.

Police say that on Tuesday night, officers assigned to the Governors Task Force, with assistance from the Kent County Drug Unit and Harrington Police Department, stopped Thomas Cahall Jr. operating a vehicle along Route 13 south of Delaware Avenue. He was known by investigators to be driving with a suspended license. A search of the vehicle revealed .4 grams of marijuana, according to police.

After the stop, officers raided Cahall's home on South DuPont Highway in Harrington. This was the culmination of a two-month drug/weapons investigation.

Police say that during the raid, two separate marijuana grows were located at the home with one contained in the attic. Seven marijuana plants, lights, water pumps, timers, plant food, and containers were located in the attic, according to police. They say additional marijuana plants were located outside of the home on the back deck.

Police say drug paraphernalia was located throughout the residence along with 15 firearms (including two SKS assault rifles, three handguns, and 10 shotguns/rifles), and three morphine pills. Police say the total weight of the marijuana seized was 595.4 grams. Three juvenile family members, ages 4, 5, and 9-years-old, were located inside the home as well.

As a result of this investigation troopers charged the following suspects:

Thomas Cahall Jr., 25, of Harrington was formally charged with four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, maintaining a dwelling for keeping marijuana, second-degree conspiracy, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended revoked (traffic violation). He was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Correctional Center in lieu of $55,500.00 secured bond.

His father, Thomas Cahall Sr., 45, of Harrington, was formally charged with four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, maintaining a dwelling for keeping marijuana, second-degree conspiracy, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was arraigned and released after posting $23,500 secured bond.

Thomas Cahall Jr.'s mother, Dorothy Cahall, 44, of Harrington was formally charged with three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, maintaining a dwelling for keeping marijuana, second-degree conspiracy, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned and released after posting $39,500 secured bond.
