Lost Filling - WBOC-TV 16, Delmarvas News Leader, FOX 21 -

Lost Filling

You can usually tell when you have lost a filling because you can feel it with your tongue. Normally it is sensitive to cold and food gets stuck in it. Most of the time a filling is lost because there is a cavity in the tooth or part of the tooth has broken away as well. It is important to see a dentist as soon as possible because the longer you wait the more likely you will experience discomfort, need more extensive treatment like a crown and/or a root canal rather than a filling. Fortunately, we have several dentists on staff at Delmarva Dental Services so you have a better chance of being seen promptly.

Until you have the tooth fixed, there are several options. Place some temporary filling material in the tooth, which can be purchased at a pharmacy. Place some chewing gum or soft wax in the tooth. Of course you should avoid chewing on the tooth to prevent further damage.
