AAA Mid-Atlantic Reminds Football Fans to Celebrate Responsibly

WILMINGTON, Del. - Football festivities get off to a big start this weekend as the NFL season starts Thursday and Delaware high school football gets under way Friday.  AAA Mid-Atlantic reminds football fans to be responsible; drinking and driving is a deadly combination.

"The social events with friends and family that surround football make this one of the most exciting times of year, but it's critically important to have a game plan by designating a driver.  Don't take the football festivities on the road," warns Jim Lardear, Director of Public and Government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.

During 2013, the Delaware State Police reported 41 alcohol related traffic fatalities with alcohol being involved in 43 percent of all fatal crashes.  New Castle County had 20 fatalities, while Sussex County had 15 and Kent County had 6.
