MIDDLETOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a man whose body washed ashore at Augustine Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Daniel Ward of Wilmington. Investigators said Ward was reported missing to the Wilmington Police Department on Jan. 5, after he walked away from Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington where he was admitted for undisclosed treatment.
According to police, a person walking along the beach spotted Ward's body shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. State troopers and New Castle County paramedics were called to the scene.
Police said the results of an autopsy are pending and positive identification was made through fingerprint analysis.
Augustine Beach is on Delaware Bay in the Middletown area.
