CENTREVILLE, Md.- 911 calls in Queen Anne's County will no longer have to wait out a busy signal to get emergency assistance, according to the county sheriff.
As of right now multiple 911 phone calls aren't able to be processed so the surrounding counties have agreed to help.
“About 70 percent of 911 calls come in via cell phones,” said Queen Anne's County Department of Emergency Services Director Scott Haas. “Today, after six 911 cell phone lines are in use, the caller gets a busy signal. Our partnership with Kent, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester Counties will eliminate that problem.”
All overflow calls in Queen Anne's County will now roll over so those in need can speak to a trained dispatcher in a surrounding county. The county hopes this will help with simultaneous emergency calls.
