Charter School Bill Heads to House Chamber for Vote

DOVER, Del. --- Delaware's Department of Education said on Wednesday that standardized test scores were flat or lower in the 2017-2018 school year.

Roughly 54 percent of the Grade 3 through 8 students who took the Smarter Balanced Assessment demonstrated proficiency in English Language Arts. That same group showed 44 percent proficiency in math, according to a news release.

The ELA scores remained the same from the previous year while math scores were down by 1 percent.

The SAT is used to measure academic progress for high school juniors. DoE said proficiency rates dropped this year in all three categories of the core test.

According to the release, 50 percent were proficient in evidence-based reading and writing while just 28 percent showed proficiency in math.
