Dover Police Release Surveillance Images from Kirkwood Street Shooting

DOVER, Del.- The Dover Police Department released surveillance video images of a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that left a man wounded on Kirkwood Street on Wednesday morning. That shooting was the third shooting in just four days in Dover.

Officers responded to the shooting just after 10 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Kirkwood and Division streets. Police said a man was shot in his foot and was later treated at a local hospital. According to police, the suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a two-tone brown sweatshirt, and has a light mustache. Police said the suspect was last seen running northbound from the scene.

In hopes of getting more information about the suspect's identity, investigators on Thursday released three surveillance photos from the incident scene. The first photo shows the victim walking westbound on Fulton Street between New and Queen streets just prior to being shot in the foot. Police said that just a few moments later, as the second and third photos show, the suspect is seen wearing a two-tone top, following the victim. Detectives said they believe that witnesses may have seen or may recognize the suspect based on the distinct clothing he is seen wearing in the images.

Wesley College and Dover area schools placed their campuses on lockdown as a precautionary measure while the scene was being investigated.
