CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A Dorchester County produce market is spreading support for farmers in a big and unique way.
Kelly Jackson's "Emily's Produce" has helped feed Dorchester County and beyond for over 20 years.
Jackson says that work wouldn't be possible without farmers.
"We do feel like that message is very important. That farmers do feed families."
Each year, the maze at Emily's Produce takes on a different theme.
Jackson says this year's was picked by customers.
"We put it to a customer vote. A social media vote over the winter. We had several designs that we had an interest in. This one resonated with our family," Jackson said.
Navigating the maze is no easy feat. A map will be provided to help make it easier. There's even an easier path designed for kids.
Jackson says in addition to spreading support for farmers, there's financial support as well.
"Here at our market, we proudly support the Maryland Food Bank," Jackson said.
"It seems like a very natural fit for us. We don't want food to go to waste, and if we have families that are going hungry, it should be local products they're eating when they're hungry," she continued.
Jackson says Emily's Produce has and will continue to donate food to the Maryland Food Bank.
The maze is expected to open in September during National Hunger Action Month.
