DELMARVA - With temperatures surpassing the 90's these next several days, many cooling centers have opened or will be opening across Delmarva. Below is the current list of available cooling centers:

Somerset County officials suggest residents bring their own food, beverages and medications to the cooling centers. Pets are not allowed.

The four aforementioned locations are always available as cooling stations in the summer during their regular business hours. Sussex County paramedics will make routine stops at these locations, as time permits, to answer any heat-related questions and/or concerns. Also, free, individual servings of bottled water will be available at the County Administration Building ONLY to help the public cool off from the heat. When visiting a relief station, bring any medications and/or specialty items that you need.
County officials urge residents and visitors to limit time outside, particularly from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the hottest part of the day. If you must be outside officials are advising frequent breaks, and to drink plenty of water.

Wicomico County, Md.
Wicomico Youth & Civic Center

This cooling center will be open Friday, July 19- Monday, July 22, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. in the civic center's DaNang Room. No pets will be permitted. Residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications.
MAC Senior Center

This cooling center will be opened on Friday, July 19 and Monday, July 22, during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The MAC Senior Center will also open Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. only for individuals over the age of 50 who need shelter from the extreme heat. Residents do not need to be affiliated with the MAC Center.
Anyone needing free transportation to the civic center enter or the MAC Senior Center should call Shore Transit at 443-260-2300 (select “dispatch” option).
Worcester County, Md.
Libraries - all five Worcester County branch libraries will be open Friday and Saturday. Friday all branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday the Berlin branch will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Ocean City branch will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ocean Pines branch will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Pocomoke and Snow Hill branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information and additional operating hours, contact library officials at 410-632-2600 or visit www.worcesterlibrary.org.
Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill - Will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be open and offering special programs for families with children Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, residents are invited to walk on the four-lane competitive track or simply relax on the retractable bleachers. Commission on Aging - the Charles and Martha Fulton Senior Center in Snow Hill will be open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The senior centers in Berlin, Pocomoke, and Ocean City are open Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for senior citizens who may need shelter from the heat.
