Delaware Police: 46 People Arrested During 1-Day "Blitz"

A Dover woman was arrested after providing officers with a fake name.

SMYRNA, Del.- A report made late last week by a Smyrna, Delaware, resident of someone impersonating a social worker with the intent of seizing a child was unfounded, town police said.

Cpl. Brian Donner, a Smyrna police spokesman, said the incident was discovered to have not occurred as reported on Harkins Drive after an exhaustive investigation.

Police initially said on Friday that a resident reported a man came to a home on Harkins Drive and said he was there to remove a child or children from the home.

Detectives are currently trying to determine a motive for the false report and charges could be filed against the person who made the claim to police, Donner said.
