Marc A. Romano

MAGNOLIA, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested the third and final suspect wanted in connection with a shooting near Magnolia.

Marc A. Romano, 27, with a last known address in Newark, was taken into custody without incident by U.S. Marshals on June 26, after numerous tips were received alerting detectives that he may be hiding out in a home in Philadelphia.

Romano has been held in a Philadelphia-area jail since that time and was extradited back to Delaware on Tuesday July 18.  He was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, seven counts of first-degree reckless endangering, and second-degree conspiracy.  He is being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution on $114,000 cash bond.

Romano was wanted in connection with an incident that happened at around 12:35 a.m. June 22. Troopers said a 9-1-1 call was received from a woman at a home in the 400 block of Cherry Drive East, Paris Villa Development, who stated that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Romano, had just driven by and shot at the house. Investigators said none of the seven people, including two other adults and four children, were injured when the gunfire took place, although the house was struck at least three times.

The Cadillac that was used in the incident was found a short time later, abandoned on Lochmeath Way.  A Camden police officer spotted Romano and two other men walking along the road not far from the car and when he attempted to make contact with the trio, Romano ran away.

Juan A. Matos, 19, and Jason D. Gilbert, 19, both of Philadelphia, were taken into custody without incident.

Gilbert and Matos were each charged with seven counts of first-degree reckless endangering and second-degree conspiracy.  Matos was additionally charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.  Both are being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $28,000 cash (Matos) and $8,000 secured (Gilbert) bonds.
