PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore received a generous gift from Delmarva Power to support its "green initiative" projects.
Delmarva Power gave the University $1 million to help the institution expand "green" training for students in the company's Maryland service area.
UMES President Juliett Bell said, "It's a way for us to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and to the environment and also in providing great opportunities to our students in engineering and aviation sciences and agriculture to; it allows hands on experience in sustainable development."
The UMES Green Collar Initiative will target rural business people, especially those in agribusiness.
