SALISBURY, Md.- Police are searching for a suspect they say robbed a woman in broad daylight in the Salisbury City Park.
According to Salisbury police, it happened at around 12:30 p.m. Monday in the area of the bandstand. Officers say they met with a 45-year-old woman who said she had been walking just east of the bandstand talking on her cellphone when the unidentified suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her in what she described as a "bear hug."
Police said the woman stated that the suspect threw her to the ground, grabbed her cellphone and ran away. As a result, there have been extra patrols in and around the park to prevent further occurrences, according to police.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 18 years of age , 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and dark colored shoes. According to police, witnesses said he had acne on his face.
